If he knows whathe is doing, I say it's a good price for the motor alone. I have a friend who bought a totalled Gixxer and is using various pieces to make an Adventure tourer. Making his own frame and all. Should be a great bike when he is done.
Give him a chance to get it up and fixed before you make a judgement.
