Best to wait till you start floating valves, then hold the throttle wide open when you shift and dump the clutch really hard.
Or look closer at your spedo, it probably has the redline speeds for each gear marked like my 1100.

Best bet? About ever 10mph or higher is what I do that seems to be best. Or? Listen to her
1st- 10
2nd- 20-25
3rd-30-35
4th-40-45
5th-cruise.

On a stock bike yes...I can hit 30 in first gear easy...if you have aftermaket pipes/jet kit/sprockets..your shifting will change...it's just like a car you will learn to shift by feel and sound of your bike..

IMHO the shift points listed in the manual are too low. If I shifted that low I would be lugging the motor.
