Default Honda Shadow Cafe Racer look?

I am very close to buying a used 2005 Honda Shadow Spirit in black. I like the café racer style better but the Shadow is just such and substantial and affordable bike. I would be willing though to invest a bit in modifying it. I know that a V2 and a cruiser frame are not really suited to be converted into a café racer but I am thinking maybe I could work on the saddle and rear fender situation, making the saddle slimmer and more straight and shortening the rear fender. Has anyone done that? Is that even possible with Shadow?

Welcome. Anything is possible. Whether or not it is a good idea is another matter and only you can decide (it is after all your time and $$$). Don't recall seeing any one try this look on the Shadow. We think the main limitation to the idea is the overall "stretched out" length of the Shadow (or any cruiser) will not lend itself to the "cafe racer" look. Still, it is an interesting idea.

We trudge on.

I'm with Trudge on this. You can try but I think you'll run into a number of issues. Most folks buy an older standard bike and do the conversion. A lot of them are pretty cheap to buy and with research you can figure out which ones still have plenty of parts. Since cafe racers have had a resurgence lately, lots of info out there on the net.

The second one was a Cobra concept drawing, you might check and see if they develop[ed parts for it.

IMO, the 2005 would be a little difficult simply because of the forward contols. A mid-control bike would suit the cafe style better.

They are actually bullet hole stickers, I got them at a gun shop. I had a couple of small blemishes and it was a quick cover up. I will probably do a repaint with in the next year.
