running lights?

i am a new owner of a 2008 aero, i noticed that the rear signal lights are not the same color, and that the front signal work as running lights as well as signals, however the rear lights only light up when the signal is engaged. i am thinkin that someone replaced one of the rear bulbs with a single filament. causing the lights not to function correctly... my question is are the lights supposed to function as running lights. i cant find anything about this in the owners manual.

Your stock rear signal lights are only on when the turn signal is activated. The fronts are always on as a safety feature.

This.

Now post some pics of your ride, and not some tiny thumbnails either, or the natives will get restless.

That's the way they're intended to work (poor/cheap design, it seems to me). But there are kits you can buy/install to convert the rear lights so that they act as running lights too. And brake lights. I did that on my '06 Aero and it was easy to do (with the Kury kit).

I was thinking about the DIY project here:
Rear Running Lights Mod Bareass Choppers Tech Pages
Anyone else done this using the recommended parts on their link, and how do you like it?
Half of my riding is at night.

You could get red lens covers and install a run-turn-brake kit

4710 - Kuryakyn Run-Turn-Brake Controller and Diode Kit

CTS-0020 - Clear Alternatives Clear Turn Signal Lenses for Honda Cruisers (pair)

I should have mine all fixed up that way in about 2 weeks.
