Yes they are detuned but I feel there are some advantages to that. Detuned motors tend to be more reliable but there is more to it than that. Iíve always felt that it was fun to wring it out a little bit, work the bike hard and try to get the most out of it. Sometimes it isnít about how fast you go it is about how much fun you have going.
I canít ride my Yamaha as hard as I rode my VT1100C without getting into trouble. I miss that.

It's not about being unhappy that my Uncles bike is faster. That's fine with me. I come from hotrodding cars though, so I was going under the old assumption that there's no replacement for more displacement. I know that's not always true with automobiles either. I was just kind of shocked that two similar bikes, one a 750 and one an 1100, the 1100 was a bit slower.

Haha, in 3 out of 5 posts, you say you don't mind or you don't care. It sounds like you do care and are trying to convince yourself that you don't!

Haha, I'm just messing around. I have no input on this, just that my 86 vt500c is quicker than my 04 vt600cd.
