Default Blinker Sticks

In cold weather, the turn signal switch is harder to slide. There is also a delay in the lights to start flashing. Is there anything I can do to the switch to fix it? Have to replace it?

I sprayed inside of mine with electric contact cleaner and its a lot better. I plan on taking it apart and applying some dielectric grease on the contacts as it's still kinda stiff and hit or miss if it cancels or not.

The thread "switch cleaning 101" has now been made as a "sticky" in the tech section.

The switch sticking is directly related to the switch being gunked up. Give it a good cleaning and you shouldn't have a problem. As far as the delay in the blinkers, that's your relay. It's a little metal coil that expands and contracts. In cold weather, it takes longer until it's warmed up. The only fix for that is a digital relay.

While you at it you should clean the starter and run/stop switches on the other side. before you get stuck on the side of the road 100 mile from home. Take the switches apart for cleaning. Dielectric grease is a must, keeps the switches from corroding and clean, but it will harden when dirty. As for the slow start, thats do to the dirty grease, preventing contact in the switch. FWI, the relay is just a switch, also, the slowness there is also do to DIRT, not temperature.
