Default My First Oil Change

Did my first ever oil change on a motorcycle today. Besides the cramped work space and low clearance, all went well. New Honda OEM filter, new drain plug washer, and Rotella T oil. No mess in the garage either so wife will be happy.
I put 7,000 miles on the previous oil and I know you can't tell by looking but it was pretty dark. I think I'll shoot for 5,000 miles for the next one.

I went to change my oil
I got my wrenches and my supplys
It went very easy
much to my surprise
but my look of pleasure
was replaced with the
look of horror on my mug
As I got three miles down the road
and realized
I forgot to replace
the plug

Did that about a month ago on the Aero. Haven't really done any mechanical work on a vehicle since high school (25 years ago).

I felt so accomplished.

Since the bike as so low, I used one of those foil baking pans from the grocery store as a catch pan. You can even fold it into a spout to pour into another container when done. Worked like a charm.

Hmm.. I used to be able to tear down, clean and rebuild a VW beetle carb with ease. Hopefully the single Aero carb isn't much more complex, as that task is next.
