Engine idles contentedly
the sun smiles and beckons
blip of the throttle I'm gone

I'm not sure that Will even knew the Japanese existed..

But that 'doggeral' came off a restroom wall in Stratford upon Avon..

I don't know who wrote it...but it was a very old wall..

Default You guys are incredible!

What absolutely lovely, visionary word play! I didn't consider the "pheasant plucker" words to be doggerel, but entertaining. All you tough bikers. . .writing poetry. Who would have thought. Thank you!

I enjoy the beauty of a rose
but in it I find no reason for prose
I guess I could right about guitars
Me thinks though I would not
get very far
No, the things that move me
the things I am passionate for
the things I like
Are usually the things I encounter
whilst out and about on the bike

here is mine, titled "Harley vs. Bus", in two parts:
part 1)

"when I had a motorcycle, I'd pick up women left & right
but if you want to have an orgy, bike is too small of a ride
"

part2)
"so I traded in my Harley, and I bought myself a bus
now, there's plenty room for fun, If there's more than two of us
."

I'll bet old Will knew about the Japanese since he seemed to know a lot about everything, but I'll also bet he never saw the inside of any restrooms, which I believe were the exclusive domain of nobility in his day....if you consider a chamber pot in a closet to be a restroom, that is.

DOGGEREL: loosely styled and irregular in measure especially for burlesque or comic effect; also: marked by triviality or inferiority

Please do not insinuate that the Bard was EVER trivial or inferior. Such heresy demands a sharp rap on the knuckles with the rod of pedantry. I shall be reporting you to the Royal Academy. You will no doubt be sentenced to a term in an elite public school where you will be subjected to daily buggery until you repent.

Ok I'll accept it as high class verse..Thinking back on it the bard was a bit upper crust..and I seem to remember a squiggle at the end of the verse that could have been a W and maybe an S..I just thought they were compass points..but now I'm not so sure..
