Default AMA vs. AAA

Just read a post mentioning the AMA (American Motorcyclists Association), looked at their web site and began to wonder which one do you belong to and why? Or why not?
To further expand on this post:
Is one association better than the other?

Probably a stupid question but.....what is AMA? Does aaa tow motorcycles? Never looked into it but assumed it was only for cars.

AAA dose tow bikes. You might have to wait a little longer than if you where in a car but they do. Here in cal at least you can buy one of there roadside packages that will tow you up to 200 miles. They also will bring you 5gal at no charge. I got AAA because of the cage but it has helped on the bike with the one tow I needed. I'm not AMA member from what i have read AMA is good but the benefits don't out weigh the money for me at least not rite now.

AMA. For several years. Mostly because they lobby the governments on behalf of motorcyclists. Too much off-road stuff for my tastes but, hey, I can ignore it. Road service comes free with membership; I think you have to register a credit card with automatic membership renewal or something like that.

Had AAA for over 15 years but dropped it when I moved to this house. I almost never used the roadside service plus they wanted way too much for insurance here. That means all I was getting for my membership fees was free maps. Not worthwhile.

Don't have either but my thoughts are that with AMA you will be assured that the towing company will be properly equiped to tow a motorcycle.

I have both for tows. The AAA is for the long distance tows while the AMA is for the closer tows. AMA is 30 miles and you can you use it every 7 days - that's the only limit. AAA is 3 a year with the first being 200 miles. AMA fights for motorcyclist rights and to me is worth the 30 or so a year. I've used AMA tows like four times already because if screws I've picked up!

AAA covers bikes if you have the Plus & RV service level. It added $32 to the annual cost we have for the Plus level.
