Default Indian dropped entry price on bikes

For you Indian fans, Polaris announced that the entry bike will be $18k and change instead of starting at $25K+ as earlier announcements stated.

Here's the story:

Indian makes a cool bike....I lived near the original factory in Springfield ma. But for the price you pay, I can think of so many other bikes I would get instead of an Indian.

Hey, my Indian only cost $750 new back in 1976. Then again, it was one of those Indian labeled, two-stroke, ME-125cc dual sports of ferrin origin. Fun bike though. Mine was blue.

I'd love to see a U.S. market mid size (950-1200cc) Indian Cruiser in the $10-12K price range though.

IMO There will be people who buy for the exclusive factor. Lowering the price to $18K will bring a lot of them in the door who demand to stand apart from the crowd. I will bet they sell over MSRP for a while.

Ok, so I think pushrods and single pin cranks and an air cooled motor are just poor engineering.... BUT!!!?.... I'd happily ride the new Indian chief, and the price IS competitive. Oooooo sh!t... I am thinking of buying one. Eat my hat.

They are beautiful bikes, no question, just not practical enough for my needs. I can get alot more of what I want for alot less. You never know when money will be meaningless though.

I was talking to a HD salesman and he mentioned that Indian/Polaris had set up a Facebook page for Indian in December and it now has over 200,000 following it which in motorcycle land is significant. Now how many are potential buyers, who knows but Indian has a cult following and if you ever meet someone in that group, they make hard core Harley owners look tame.

Not to start a shyte storm but.....Didn't Harley copy the Indian V Twin? 1903 Indian invented the V Twin engine...... Harley made their first Harley D bike in 1909 .
