Long story short...I was forced out of my lane Sunday...Had nowhere to go but over in the other lane to clip a Range Rover...The Good...I'm pretty much ok...Have full coverage... There were plenty of witnesses...and I do mean Plenty...The Bad...The girl that come over on me and forced me out of my lane fled the scene...But Thanks to one of the many witnesses he chased her down caught up to her and was able to get her plate number and return to give it to the police...I have a feeling my insurance is gonna total my bike pay me off and let me buy it back...Which I will...There sure are a lot of good cagers out there...Nothing was broke...but I feel like I was hit buy a Jumbo Jet...I'll Post some pix of the bike soon...Skid...
Yep, just when I want to give up on humanity in general, somebody will surprise me with a good deed and will restore my hope that not all is bad in society.
I'm glad somebody did the right thing and helped out with the pictures.
Most don't want to get involved.
Most important though is that YOU are ok and still here to tell us about it.
There sure are a lot of good cagers out there...Nothing was broke...but I feel like I was hit buy a Jumbo Jet...I'll Post some pix of the bike soon...Skid...
That could have been a much worse day. It's good to hear you came out okay.
Nice comment about cagers. When my first bike was totaled by a left hand turner, the police came to visit me in the dorm after I got back from the hospital to complete their accident report. I started to explain what happened and she tells me no need, that five witnesses came up to her at the scene of the accident to tell her it wasn't my fault and what exactly happened.
SKID, good to know your ok. Take some time to think it all through and figure out what you could have done to avoided it all. Even though someone else was at fault we must look out for ourselves to avoid being hurt. Someone here recently said that no matter what the situation is...we will always lose against a 3000 lb car or truck. Sometimes it all happens very fast when we least expect it....I know. Hope you get back out on two wheels soon.
Be careful out there, everyone...since the weather is finally warming up, the stupid is starting to ooze out of the pores of the other drivers on the road...I had someone come through the traffic circle on Ft Eustis today at 50mph+. As a result, he swerved halfway into my (oncoming) lane. I had to do a quick dip & swerve to keep from eating his grill.
Thanks for all The Well Wishes Everyone...6 inches is all I needed to get out of this...6 inches...But all should be good...I don't know why but today has been my worse pain day yet...been riding one form of bike or another since 1 was 14...now 64...so 50 years...I did all humanly possible to avoid all of it...Just 6 more inches...I know...I know...That's what she said...lol...I want all of you to enjoy this long weekend and always watch out for the other guy...Things happen in an instant...Safe riding...
Prayer lifted for speedy recovery...
I had a woman easing over into my lane today too!
I let the horn do its job and luckily she reacted the right way!
I had my eye on her & I was already ready for her veering over...
*#!!!#& Phones!!
Glad you're not all banged up. I approach all intersections or where cars are waiting to pull out as if they ARE gonna pull out. If I see them edging up I've already got my hand poised on the brake.
Glad to hear you are ok. Before you buy your bike back, I would recommend you or have a friend, check it over good. I paid to get my bike back last year rather than just giving the title to the wrecking yard that towed it. It had way more damage to it that I realized. I should have checked it over better. I sold it for a few hundred less than I paid to get it back. I hope yours is worth keeping. Take things easy and you will be back on 2 wheels in no time.
Checked it out from top to bottom...Frame...Front end and swing arm all ok...All bolt on's are screwed Fender...Faring and Windshield... Foot Boards...Mirrors...Saddle Bags and Brackets...Light Bar...Turn Signals...Gas Tank...Seat...Clock and Temp Gauage...Last but not least the Throttle End Cap...So seeing that according to Kelly Book my 2002 Spirit is only worth $2750.00 and my insurance Policies allow me 3000.00 in Accessories Coverage...and the bike was in perfect condition...Running wise and Looks wise...I am gonna but it back and put it back better than before...Plan on keeping it forever or until my son decides he wants it...Whichever comes first...Buying a new Vaquero...Stratoliner or Switchback...Not sure which one yet...I really like all three...I guess wherever I get my best deal...Always like having a backup plan...Here are a couple of pix of what my Shadow looked like 9 days ago...Thanks again for all the well wishes...What a way to Celebrate my 50th year of riding...Looking forward to 50 more...Skid...
