Hello,
I have a 2007 Honda 750 Shadow. Lately it has been backfiring when I go to start the bike. I will press the start button and it will backfire one (a loud pop) time then start normally. Is there anything wrong?
Thanks,
Bill
Do you use your choke when starting? I always used my choke on the 1100 with no issues on cold startup. The Valk having 6 cyl. even likes to be choked on cold start up. Also some debris in the fuel system can cause this condition. Try running some fuel additive/cleaner. This is something I do about every 3000 mi. or so. I consider it preventive maintence so to speak. Harry C suggestion is also another point to be checked also and if so you haven't been shutting off your fuel petcock in conjunction with a carb float issue this could be the cause. This more a problem on Valks with a gravity fed system. Valks are known to "hydrolock" do to failure of the vacumm operated petcock and the cure is to toss the stocker and replace with Pingle manual petcock and remember to religously turn it off. I did forget once in a blue moon on the 1100 but never had issues not doing so but the damn biatch would vaporlock on sitting a while on extremely hot summer days.
