My personal opinion from experience, I have convex and I will not put anything flat on my bike ever again. I have the Rivco ones, and the amount of road you can see around you in either mirror totally makes it worth it in my opinion. Sure, it does sorta mess with the "distance" things look in the mirror (may be closer than they appear), but it's so not a big deal and your brain adjusts without much difficulty. Being a 41 year old dad now, and much less the hell raising young adult I might have once been, safety is much more important to me. That being said, I didn't want to put giant truck mirrors on my bike, keeping her looking amazing is still important to me. So I went with the Rivco mirrors, as they are the perfect size, a great shape, not too big, but not too small, and the amount of additional vision you get with them is amazing, plus the built in led turns are super bright and look cool IMO. I can see the whole road in either mirror, which makes having to check both of them so much less necessary. When you're in a tough situation on the bike, visibility is so crucial. You need to make that quick move, you need to know where ALL the traffic is. The split second longer it takes to look at both mirrors could be the difference between riding a beautiful bike home, or a bad ambulance ride or worse.
