Default 2002 Shadow Sabre 1100 Gas Mileage???

I just bought a used 2002 shadow sabre 1100. This is my first bike. I've read that this bike gets gas mpg in the high 40's but mine seems to be high 30's maybe 40. A friend of mine just bought the same bike but his is a 2000 Aero and his does get mileage in the high 40's. The only difference mechanically is that his exhaust is stock and mine has Cobra drag pipes. Do these pipes reduce my mpg? They were installed on the bike before it came into my posession so idk if the bike was adjusted after the pipes were installed. What kind of mpg's do you guys get on your 1100's with cobra pipes? Thanks for all your input.

Although 90% highway, I get a consistent 43.5 MPG. with this crap they call gas here in Oregon. If I could get real gas I can get 48 MPG.

i get from 37 to 42. A lot of factors decide it though:
With or without windsheild
your weight
average speed.

If I average 40 I'm happy
