Thank dickens it was only a co-worker you ripped off. But then, I sold my next door neighbor a gold wing in the same condition for $200. However I did keep the license current. Guess that's why I got the extra $100. LOL He changed the oil and sold the bike for $1,000.

Thanks. I hope that I am not boring you all but I am way too excited. I replaced the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter. Tonight I removed the carbs and are currently immersed in a carb cleaning solution. Manually moved the butterflies and are smooth as butter (stiff throttle problem solved).
The old battery is alive. Hooked it up to my buddy's charger last night and today the bike cranked awesome. Gonna leave it plugged to the trickle charger till I put it all back together. Should be able to ride it around the block this weekend. |

LOL. Well, last post of the night. I went back in the garage to dry out the carbs. Seeing as I had plenty of time, I reinstalled the carbs and hooked up the gas tank for a little test before going to bed.
Gave a good crank and figured out that I had the tank petcock closed. Gave it another try and this time had fuel flowing from top of carbs (forgot to reconnect main fuel supply line at the Y junction above carbs). Gave it another try and FIRED right up!!!!!!!!! Idle is smooth and solid! Wife went in garage and told me that she was happy that I got it running so quickly then instructed me to knock it off and get my butt inside. Yes madam! I will wash it this weekend and post some good pics. Good night y'all! |

Had the same sort of deal with my bike. In-laws had it taking up space in his garage for several years without registering it. We got drunk one night, and he offered me the bike.
Cost me 400 something for registration. Probably another 500 in parts, and a weekend of labor to get it up and going proper. Looks like you made out even better. Good times.
