Look at the Zena disk locks. They use the holes in the plate to secure the locks.

Pic with the Zena on a VTX 1800 and a Spirit 750. Different size locks of course.

You might want to take a look at this:

Grip-Lock - Scooter and Motorcycle Security Lock

It clamps to your grip and keeps the brake applied.

They are easy to use, very visible (they come in colors...mine is bright green. It sort of looks like a big pickle. ) so a thief can see that there is a security clamp on the bike and hopefully move on to some easier pickings, and you definitely won't ride off with it attached.

Do a search and you'll find several different sellers.

Might want to take a look at Webbike Worlds review...

A couple of their comments on the Grip-Lock:

Conclusion
The Grip Lock is an easy-to-use device that provides a good visual clue that the motorcycle has some anti-theft protection. It should hopefully serve as a warning and preventative to potential thieves or mischief makers.
Summary
Easy to use lock for the throttle and front brake. Best used as another tool in a layered anti-theft system.
The device is made of nylon.

I didn't read on their website where there is any audible alarm produced by this product but I may have missed it.

If a thief really wants your bike they will just lift it into a van and drive off..

I will not use a disk lock because I am getting to old and might forget to release it before I try to ride off...google will probably show you many who have made this mistake.

I thought that was what those bright colored little coil straps were for.

Yeah, just don't FORGET it's there when you go to take off. I've seen it happen on a buddy of mines bike, NOT pretty and NOT cheap to fix afterwards.

No, there is no alarm on the Grip Lock.
Yes, It's mostly made of plastic, but with metal reinforcing.

"Some anti-theft" and "hopefully serves as a warning." That's right. But that doesn't mean it's not effective. There's no perfect safeguard and, as others have stated, if some thieving ass wants your bike bad enough, it's gone.

To me, the best security device is one that's easy and convenient to use. If I don't use it because it's inconvenient, then it does me no good at all.
(Inconvenient means heavy and space-taking chains or cables, or anything that I have to bend over or kneel to apply. )
Anyway, I'm sure I'd be the poster boy for riding off with a disc lock attached, so they're not for me.

Insurance is the only real safeguard.

Example: I once had a brand new scooter with only 20 miles on it stolen from right out in front of my house. It was attached to a heavy metal railing with a Kryptonite cable. Apparently, the thieves were on the prowl to steal someones ride and were casing out neighborhoods. They had a truck, and they had a cable cutter. They also, in the end, had my ride.

Luckily, I had good coverage and, except for a small deductible, received compensation in full. (Well, not really. "Compensation in full" would involve me finding the thieves and using cable cutters on them. Thoughts like that keep me warm at night. )

Ahem...But I digress...

Still, I don't want my bike stolen, coverage or not, so I usually use at least some kind of theft deterrent. For my Shadow, in almost all circumstances the fork lock is usually all I use. I use the Grip Lock on my Vespa scooter, which is much lighter and easier to tote off. Still, the Grip Lock fits both and I can use it on both.

My 2 cents, adjusted for inflation.

The best security its to park next to a bike worth more than yours.

I guess I go overboard. When the bike is parked over night in front of a motel or is going to be left in an area such a huge parking lot for any extended period of time:
1) Park it in the most visible place I can and still have it as far off the beaten path as possible for foot and motor traffic.
2) Of course lock the forks
3) Apply the Zena Disk lock... easy as pie and quick ... I don't mind bending over
4) Kryptonite light duty Chain lock on the rear wheel
5) I have a Handicap Parking permit so if possible I use a light bicycle cable and lock up to a handicap pole.
6) Finally have full replacement cost ... $0.00 deductible ... and full coverage via rider on all mods.
None of items 3..5 are made of anything but metal, no plastic or nylon. I own several guns to go and hunt down any SOB that does take it.

Oh and as an after thought ... I take the key with me....
