I have dragin jeans and armor. My thoughts on the chaps were that they leave your backside unprotected. I suppose one could wear draggin jeans instead of regular jeans with the chaps...the jeans let a lot of cold air through. But maybe thats overkill.

If You really think the chaps look silly you can also get chaps pants that look like leather jeand and zip all the way down the outside of both legs for easy install and removal. They help with the cold weather shrinkage too.

I wear mine anytime I'm going to be running speeds more than a slow crawl.
They provide protection from bugs and debris (rocks feel like bullets at highway speed), a good wind-break, they're warm on a cool morning/evening ride, and they keep my work pants or jeans clean and dry. Most of all... if I go down... they'll hopefully leave only cow-hide on the road... not my hide! The pair I wear now, I picked up at the local Good-Will / thrift store for $20... brand-new Milwaukee brand, and still had the retail tag on them! Check out Sportsman's Guide ... they always have at least one or two styles / brands at close-out prices... here's their current special for <$40, but they also have big-names for more $$: Diamond Plate Buffalo Chaps, Black - 527473, Jeans/Pants at Sportsman's Guide I have a pair of these too... they're decent, fit well, and lined so you can get them on/off easy (and won't stain your jeans). |

I often wear Draggin jeans under my chaps. I find that the Kevlar mesh creates a nice air gap between the leather and my legs so they stay warmer than with just regular jeans.
