Default 8" handlebars. keep stock cable or new set?

Anyone installed 8" handlebars like these on their shadow before? Im thinkin of these on my phantom but not sure if i can reuse stock cables with 8" or not. Because I was thinking either I go with minimum of 8" to keep stock cables or higher with new cables. What you guys think?

I dont know much about specs on Phantoms. But just look up the stock rise on your bars and check how much slack you currently have on your cables compared to the bars you want to get.
Where did you get your Arlen Ness-styled fairing BTW, Ive been looking around but cant seem to find one at a decent price...

Here's a link to site that sells those bars-http://www.road6customs.com/online-shop.html#ecwid:category=337171&mode=product&produ ct=1136438
Cheaper then Ebay. They look like stock cables won't fit. The only problem I see is the they are made for Harleys and the spacing for the risers is different then Honda's so the knurled section won't line up with the risers on your bike.

I have 8" bars on mine, stock clutch cable (but it is at MAX length), could use a little longer. Throttle has been changed to single cable and no front brake. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks dude. They do offer to knurl the bars for metric as well at no extra charge

I am curious to how you did your set up to work with only the rear brakes. but I am loving those bars.

I just removed all front brake components. No other adjustments/mods are needed. You have to be a very cautious and mindful rider with just a rear brake. AND make sure it isn't a legal requirement in your area for a front and rear brake.

The best way to find out is take off your old bars and trail fit. Not only will it tell you whether the various stock cables will work, it will tell you which ones will definitely NOT work, and give you a better idea of how much over to go when and if you need to order new ones.. which could save you needless expense ..why go over on say the throttle cable when all you needed was a longer clutch cable right?

You realize that you will need riserswith those bars. The Phantom has welded risers. Looking at a Phantom picture, if you get real short risers you might be able to use stock cables. Take a measurement of your length of your risers and see if comes close to the rise and pullback of the new ones. Do not remove the front brake like Jimnfor did. That is just a fools way to an accident or death. Relying only on a rear brake is just plain stupid.

I am trying to figure out this same question. I hesitate to order the bars until I know how high I can go. I know several people have put the 2" or 3" scootworks risers on. Add that to the built in risers that are 3-4" I would guess you could get away with 7ish inches. I hope you can make it work out so I can order 8" mini apes!
