Default Upshifting without clutch works great!

So I read on here about some guys not using the clutch to upshift, so I gave it a go tonight. Works like a charm, on top of being able to shift fast as hell! My bike really seems to like it better when I ride it hard, if I shift gently asnd go light on gas, it just doesnt seem to run as well...Hopefully shifting that way doesn't harm anything...

Done right, it doesn't hurt anything.
But. There should be no jerking of the tranny and really nothing more than a soft snick noise from the transmission as you go into the next gear.

It usually works better to go from 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5. Generally a bad idea to downshift this way, though it can be done.

Personally I would leave 'power shifting' to racing bikes. Sure, you can shift without the clutch. You could also end up replacing your transmission.

I'll use the clutch. That's why it's there.

Isn't it?

Agreed. I'll save my fingers..? Breath, and post this vid. Dont mind him if he rambles, amusing fellow and all but, he talks about the no clutch shifting in this clip.

As I'm sure a lot of you know, you can shift without using the clutch in other vehicles too. I've done it in the cage but, just as an experiment/practice incase one day my clutch goes again.

Edit: Eh, not as much info about the no clutch shifting as I thought he talked about..must have been elaborated more on the subject within the comments some time ago.

I've always been a bit skeptical of no-clutch shifting, I guess I'm just afraid of messing up my tranny. However, my grandfather has been doing it for years with all his shadows with absolutely no problems. Oh, and BTW, all his bikes have lived to see 100K+ miles without any major issues...
