Default Gonna be sitting on the sidelines :(

So, my mind says I'm 30, body says I'm 60 and to prove it, pop goes the bicep tendon at the elbow . Surgery Thursday and then 6-12 weeks in various casts and splints and rehab and driving an automatic cage

Seriously? Couldn't do this in December? Or a year ago before I returned to riding?

So, knowing I'm down for awhile, I drive to a get together tonight 30 miles from here. I look at the weather map and ya, those are big yellow and red rain clouds right where I'm heading. Smart thing to do?

Ya, well not really an option. So the lesson that I learned? I can ride on the slab in real heavy down pours AND plastic grocery bags DO keep your boots dry!

Hoping I get back on two wheels are soon as possible! (oh, and that surgery goes OK too)

Good luck. I ruptured my distal biceps tendon last year. Had surgery in February, I was back riding sometime in May. And I'm a lot older than you! Follow their instructions for post surgery rest and physical therapy.

Sorry to hear and i hope you recover quickly.
Follow the Physical Therapists instructions and you'll be back riding soon.

I do feel your pain also.
After an incident last May where I had torn my right Rotor Cuff and Bicep Tendon and also my left Bicep tendon.
I had the right side arm and shoulder repaired in August. I didn't want to go through the summer without fun so I rode, worked and enjoyed Summer activities with the pain. My riding was done for the fall.
I still haven't fixed my left arm Bicep Tendon since it's not rare for someone to go through life looking like Popeye, two biceps. Common with athletes. My tendon snapped all the way down to my wrist and the other part somewhere in my shoulder. Feels weird at times but I didn't want my whole arm sliced up for a Cadaver Tendon repair.

My profile pic was taken last fall, I'm actually wearing my shoulder brace while volunteering during a bike rally since I couldn't ride.
So happy to be back riding again and you'll be back soon also.

Good luck with your recovery and rehab!

I too feel your pain. My shoulder surgery was last Thursday. The surgeon shaved a bone near the rotator cuff, "cleaned out" around the cuff and snipped one of the bicep tendons. The latter is typical as fixing it results in a looong rehabilitation process. You loose about 10% of your strength in that arm, but heck I have plenty to spare. LOL. I was lucky there was no damage to the cuff proper.

The surgery went well. I was out of the sling on the second day. I had essentially no pain beyond the second day. They gave me some pretty heavy duty pain medication and I took only a couple of doses because in made me feel sick to my stomach. I see the surgeon tomorrow to have the stitches out and set up an appointment to start physical therapy. I was lucky, but it will be May before I'm back on the bike. I hate to miss the first month of riding in Maine, our season is too short.

Hang in there, follow instructions during rehab and get well soon.
