I've been experiencing some rather unpleasant throttle response for the last 2-3 or so thousand km and, had several concerns and speculations as to what could be the issue. Started off by running Seaform in the gas tank several times with no luck, even bought some carb cleaner until I realized that the gas tank had to be removed to get at the carbs. Needless to say, I ordered a Dynojet kit the other day and, got around to picking it up today.
My biggest concern was that perhaps I had signs of a burnt valve, and had spent the last few weeks researching online as to the probability of running aftermarket pipes without jetting - seemed plausible but, still unlikely given the circumstances. With that being said, my brother and I took the bike apart and rejetted the sucker. It took us a fair bit of time having never have done such before, although I was confident in his ability. The largest hurdles were, placing the carb back in once we got the new jets, needles and springs in, and then we forgot to label/mark one tube - turns out it was just a vacuum tube that didn't connect to anything on one end, found out via looking up the info here. The bike runs really nice now, pulls hard and no more backfiring so far. I do think we may need to mess with the air/fuel mixture a bit since it idles a bit rough (at least in the cold at night). A huge relief that it wasn't anything serious and, I'm proud to say we did it ourselves, especially since I'm not very mechanically inclined, granted my bro did do the majority of the work. Thought about taking pictures of the whole process but, I'm sure it's old news to most of you and, with sites like vt750dc.com it didn't seem necessary. Now, it's time to get some asphalt under the tires!

Yep, as dernp said, it costs a bit to get it done. I don't really see why it costs so much to do because, with a experienced hand I really can't see the process taking more than maybe 1-2 hours, 3 at the most. The actual jetting process is pretty easy, it's just whether or not the carb wants to come out and go back in that makes it tricky.
I also thought the 750dc didn't have a real reserve, thought it was just part of the lower tank. Either I didn't syphon all the way to the bottom of the tank or, these bikes do have a proper reserve..found that out the hard way when removing the fuel line lol.
