I think anytime you don't ride for a month or more that you should be extra cautious. I personally like to read through my MSF Manual. To re-familiarize myself with things I may have forgotten.
This last winter was mild everywhere as far as I can tell. But we usually get alot of freezing rain and ice here in Oklahoma. I have a feeling the heat this summer is gonna be MEAN. 100+ degrees, on a blacktop highway. Sometimes you feel like your riding through HELL. Have to be careful too. Stay hydrated. The heat can wear your senses down quick. I've had a couple of instances where I felt really dizzy because of the heat. Definitely not a good thing..... Dave.

Wasnt trying to be rude with my earlier comment. Just my way of saying there is no way I could do it.
I would be dead if I were to be placed up north. I'd rather sweat through a 110 degree day than have to deal with even 40 degree temperatures.

I'm glad to be from da nort cuntry. You can have your heat, cause no matter how fast you ride, it's still too hot. Atleast we can stay warm riding in the cold and no bugs!

Goes both ways I guess. Being a life long northerner I have a hard time when it starts pushing 90 degrees. But I also don't like riding under 50 degrees either. Actually probably more like 60. So they both have their positives and negatives.

In august it does get a bit hot here in Arkansas, kinda reminds me of riding through a hairdryer. But I am willing to put up with it for the year round riding. Only missed about a week this winter.

Winter was very mild in my neck of the woods. I didn't pull the bike out until my wife picked up her Shadow a couple of weeks ago. Rode our bikes down from NE Illinois (20 minutes from the Wisconsin border) and she got her first experience riding in cold weather. A damp 46 degrees with a windchill about 36 degrees. A great experience for her. As for me...I've ridden in 20 degree weather before. Did I fail to mention how excited she was to finally pick up her bike? Start Seeing Motorcycles signs are everywhere. Safe riding everyone.

Yeah, I dislike the HEAT!!! It`s more desirable fer me to ride bundled up in the winter than to sit on the interstate fer a wreck in the summer months!!!

If you've got your heart set on PA, check out Bedford County -- I've heard good things about it but haven't been south of US30. There are supposed to be some great roads bounded by I76 on the north, I70 on the east and I68 on the south. (I don't know whether or not US220 forms a boundary to the west.) This area has been on my check-it-out list for a few years but something always seems to come up to keep me away.
