I really like the flat black look! Where in WV are you? I'm in NC, but grew up in Monroe County. I haven't found any for $1800 here either. I'm patiently waiting though.

I decided I wanted a motorcycle mid November 2011 because I didn't ride my three wheeler (ATV) last season and a street bike would suffice the need to do some off roading. I noticed after November the price of used bikes went way down. But, the price almost doubled after it got warm in March.

I agree that craig s' bike looks badazz with the flat black!! Two thumbs up! Hey Craig. Is your seat the original seat with the passenger seat cut off of it or did you have to modify it?

thanks,,its the stock seat with the "b!tch" seat removed,it just bolts on to the riders seat via a bracket that is mounted on to the "b!tch" seat.

Depending on what year your VLX is I do know there was a recall on it. Something about fuel leaking. Not sure of all the details. You can search the forum for more information.

Other than that no issues with mine.

Thx for the info damanning71. I will look into that recall. I most certainly don't want fuel leaking on a hot engine!

UPDATE: I found the recall info. Here it is:

Quote:
Honda has just issued a recall of '06 and '07 VT600s and '07-'08 VT750 and VTX1300 motorcycles because of a fire hazard in the fuel-delivery system-an improperly manufactured fuel-control-valve diaphragm that could leak and potentially cause a fire. According to a warning issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), "The fuel control valve diaphragm and the fuel valve may drip fuel. In the presence of an ignition source, dripping fuel poses the risk of fire."
The recall will affect 39,000 VT600s, VLXs and VTX1300s and apparently all 750 V-twins designated as 2007 or 2008 models. Honda dealers will replace the fuel-control-valve diaphragm assembly free of charge when the recall officially begins on April 10. Consumers may contact Honda at 866.784.1870 or the NHTSA at 888.327.4236 (TTy 800.424.9153), or view more info at safercar.gov or consumeraffairs.com. Go to motorcyclecruiser.com for the full text.

Craig S. that is SA WHEAT that the bitch seat comes off so easily and the main seat looks that nice without the beatch! I told the wife the first thing I'm doing after picking up the bike is take the sissy bar and bitch seat off. She didn't want anything to do with a motorcycle and now she's having 2nd thoughts. LOL! I told her I need to get some seat time under my belt before considering any passengers. I take my PA motorcycle safety course at the end of May.

I just noticed this thread was moved from the member introductions section. I guess I graduated from the 3 thread rule!! I'M AN OFFICIAL MEMBER NOW!!!

Ive had my vlx now for a few years and love it. Only problems of is the connector from the stator to regulator but that is common for most any Honda. Change oil, check valves from time to time and should last a long time. Don't worry too much about the gas tank, you can go 120+ miles and there aren't too many places where you have that far between gas stations. If you have a stock seat after 120 miles your going to want to get off and let your butt recover. My seat cover is starting to fall apart and that is going to give me an excuse to get a Mustang seat.

I've had mine a couple of years. I'd like a bigger tank but it's really not an issue. at 100miles I need to stretch anyway. Mines an 04 with 1200 miles on it when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago. I paid 2350 for it.

Since my wife has expressed an interest in having her own bike rather than riding on the back of mine I went to the web site of the dealer where I traded in my beautiful, mint, 6k mile VLX last year to see if it was still there. I thought perhaps I could make a deal to buy it back. Unfortunately it was not there. They do have two other VLXs - a '94 and a '96 - both of which they are asking $2800 for. Most that I've seen on the local Craigslist are in the same general price range or higher. I'd love to find a low priced decent condition VLX as a starter bike for her. Even though she says she wants a bike I question if she will actually ride it. If she does I'll invest in something better but in the mean time I don't want to get soaked if she doesn't ride it and I have to sell it.

Hmm, I'm in BC, Canada, so maybe that has something to do with it. I wonder if I could get a good deal down in Washington State?
