When I had my 1100, normal was 42 to 46mpg. If mpg dropped, along with smooth running at cruising speed, I knew the carbs needed synced. Always made a big difference and really made the bike perform better. Of course, type of riding and your own riding style have a major factor too.

My milage ranges from 45-54 MPG depending on the where i am. My estimates are with all accessories and with a full load for a road trip. Fully loaded with gear and with straight highway riding it reaches 54MPG. Fully loaded in mountainous terrain 45 or so no lower. Even with the milage I'd prefer to fill up no later that 180 miles (I start to sweat around there).

Hmm, think I may have to pay attention to check the fill point. (Bottom of the filler neck, right??)
Second fill since I bought it, first one I can get data on: 61 mpg, mostly 35-45 mph commuting miles.

I average 52mpg "city" but really it's highway, expressway, throughway whatever you want to call it. Speed limit is 55mph but it has stoplights here and there.

My speedometer is about 3% higher than actual so my indicated 46-47 mpg is more like 44-45 mpg driving mainly back country roads and interstate.
Still a lot better than the 15-16mpg my F-150 gets, monthly fuel cost at current rates is around $450-$500 just for commuting to and from work with the truck. This makes riding in the rain and near freezing temperatures down right enjoyable. |

Last three tanks have averaged 51mpg, but I still need to sync the carbs, and I've not bought a new tach to check my mixture settings either... Hopefully, once those are done, I'll see even better mpg.
My driving is 50-50 highway (45-55mph) and stop-and-go city. 51mpg is a far sight better than the ~20mpg I got on the first tank, before things were cleaned up and adjusted semi-properly... |
