OK guys and gals. This is my new bike. Its a 1985 VT700 with 9902 miles. Bike is in really good shape. I think the bike had fallen over since all the blinkers were broken. There is a scratch on the right side of the exhaust pipe but not very bad. There is a small ding in the tank but barely visible. I paid 400 bucks for it. So far I have spent 180 bucks on new carburetor diaphragm's. 65.00 on a new battery. 28.00 on a choke valve in the carb. 40.00 for new blinker stems. and probably 20 bucks on new fuel line and fuel filter. I'm just curious if I have spent more then the bike is worth. Let me know what you think. I like the bike now that its running good. the previous over let it sit for 10 years. Thanks

So you have what about 700 bucks into the bike? I think you could get atleast double that if it runs good.

Sorry, the bike is only worth about $20.00. But, not to worry. Today is your lucky day, cause I'll take it off your hands for right around $50.00. But, to get this crazy awesome deal, you'll have to bring the bike to me. I know, I know,........................................no need to thank me.
All kidding aside, getting it up and running after ten years, you deserve a medal. Awesome job! I'd say you made out like a bandit. Sentimental value, PRICELESS! - |

If you are experiencing some buyer's remorse because of the money you spent on cosmetics and getting it up and running...toss those thoughts out of your head. Your bike is worth the time, expense and effort. It's a good looking bike and has increased in value. Congratulations.
