I see it a lot on different sites and am curious about every ones definition of "Riding Hard" as in I ride hard....
Would riding 600 mile days, riding +100mph to your watering spot 5 miles away or riding +100 mph for 600 miles be riding hard? Wikipedia currently does not have a definition Personally, I commute and ride 60 - 100 miles every day back roads and Interstate speeds and consider it regular riding.

Wow! Thought for one minute the forum had changed to an adults only theme. Going full throttle is usually related to the expression "riding hard".

If you hate riding bikes, going two miles could be considered hard...if you take the original meaning ridden hard and put away wet..well it has nothing to do with motorcycles..

A lot of variables in defining "riding hard". Could be related ti wear and tear on the driver, bike, or both. I can see time a distance being a factor as well as % engine power being used. Driving 500 miles in my V8 truck is totally different wear on the engine to a 4 cylinder engine. So to me, "riding hard" would be riding near or at the top end capabilities of the rider and the machine for an extended period of time (hours not minutes).

I always equated it with "rode hard and put away wet." Long day in the saddle and pushing the horse (or bike) the limit.

100 mph? Seriously? I never do that for more than a matter of seconds or maybe minutes. For me "Riding Hard" is to ride from daylight to dark. It could be 200 miles of twisties with lots of stops or it could be 500 miles of highway stopping only for gas.
