Default Leather seat cover for $120??

My 86 VT1100 needs a new seat cover. The original one is splitting at the seams and seems to be in a hurry about it.

Last night I was looking at CL ads and there was one for a cheap upholsterer who said they did car seats.

I asked for a quote and was told that it was 90 if I supplied the material (I have about 30 yards of seat vinyl) but she would do it in leather, she supplied, for $120.

Saddleman seat covers are about the cheapest out there for around $90 (I don't know if it includes shipping) and have heard that they can be a pain to install. But I think for that price you get both the front and back seat covers. The price for the leather seat cover is just the front.

I'm looking for opinions here.

Should I stick with vinyl and have the cover made? Should I go for the leather seat cover? Should I just go the Saddleman route?

If it helps, the upholsterer is local so I can go see her work.

for leather, and her mats, seems like a good cost ratio to me. i know you can get the vinyl covers on ebay, but then u still have to install em. Unless you have an air stapler, or electric stapler, dont opt to install it yourself, regular staple guns wont get thru the plastic.

i had mine installed for 35, and the cover cost me about 60, taxes/shipping in.

if i could have gone leather for 120 i would have. for 30 bucks in the difference, comon, you know the answer to this =P

I had my stock seat recovered in vinyl (I supplied the pink trim fabric) for $60. The lady that did mine does boat upholstery, had it back in a day. You might check and see if there is a marine upholstery place near you they can cover your seat using scrap that they have laying around and it wont cost as much.
