Just an observation, Funny how people shy away from wrecked bikes, But I've known several people from "that" school of thought that have bought basket cases with no problem, funny, I'm sure lots of those "baskets" were wrecked, and disasembled and never put back together.
Anyway, if you want a project I see no problem with having one, I have no idea about what his riding experiance may be, if this is his first bike, if it were my daughter She wouldn't be getting on the back, Why to easy to twist the throttle and get in trouble on those. Seems crotch rockets bring out the "stupid" in people. And people have a tendancy to "show off" more on those things. Not with MY daughter on the back thank you very much. Good example....I sold one of my race bikes years ago, not the crotch rocket of today, back then we had "superbikes" A'La mad max. Anyway...Had a dream I died on it, still as vivid today as it was in '81. let's not go there...... Anyway. the guy I sold it to killed his girlfriend on it a week later......No joke. |

This has been a very interesting discussion to read. We're selling a '93 GSX-R on eBay right now that's clearly been dropped and the bids are up to $1400.
I couldn't figure out why anybody would want it for more than $1000, but makes sense after reading this, and more power to the highest bidder, I guess? |

Sport bikes bring higher dollar than others when parted out. The 93 is nearing classic status, not really comparable to modern GSXR's, just a great looking, great handling bike. The earlier oil cooled engines were actually better than that era of water cooled GSXR's IMO, and are the more desirable ones at the moment.
Right now I'm using this ![]() To turn this ![]() Into this (so far)

I would haver bought it in a heart beat. Its amazing what you can get on ebay. He can have that bike rebuilt if he does it himself for less than 2k. and then sell it for a profit. Plus they are great bikes. I had 2 before I got my shadow. My wrist could stand the pressure anymore.

Thanks for all the replies... I don't know how well he's doing on fixing up the GSXR. He and I don't exactly see eye to eye, if you know what I mean.

You have NOOO idea how much I know what you mean!...My oldest daughter has a boyfriend that does not appear to see life for what it is....and she is having a baby with him...so I am stuck....guess i just have to buck up and deal....try and make it work and keep an eye on it....maybe it will work out in your advantage by showing you care enough to try....

Definitly not a good deal. But...
A little off the subject somewhat, a local lad wrecked his "Busa" and took the motor and put it in a Smart car.
