Default Interesting... My daughter's boyfriend just bought a Suzuki GSXR-750

Would you have done this? Bought a trashed, wrecked, darn near destroyed, '94 Suzuki GSXR-750 out of the local newspaper for $600 bucks?!?!

I had to look it up on the internet to see what my daughter's boyfriend was talking about. Here is one on eBay Motors that someone is selling for $4000 and looks to be in really good shape. THIS IS NOT THE ONE HE BOUGHT.
Suzuki : GSX-R Suzuki : GSX-R | eBay

The '94 GSXR-750 that my daughter's boyfriend bought has been totally trashed by some squid who previously owned it. From what I understand, last year or the year before the squid decided to pull up the front end and ride a wheelie down the highway at 55-60 mph. He wasn't steady, got scared or something, and lost control. He lived, but was laid up in the hospital for a while and now has a steel rod in his femur, and a nerve damaged arm which now prohibits him from ever riding again.

My daughter's boyfriend bought the trashed '94 GSXR-750 anyway.
- Bent front wheel
- Bent forks
- No "tupperware" left on it anymore
- No clutch lever
- Gas tank dented up big time
- Gear shifter all bent up
- No direction signals
- Hasn't been started in over a year
- Lord only knows what else...

Would you have bought this for $600 bucks? I don't know what my daughter's boyfriend is thinking... But, oh well... If the kid thinks he can fix/restore this old GSXR-750, then more power to him.

if hes a tinkerer i see no problem with this. the one thing you left out is his skill level in acquiring parts and fixing stuff. IMO, the important stuff. price seems reasonable, not great, but reasonable

Maybe he just wants a project bike. But if I were you I would thoroughly inspect that bike before my daughter ever rode on it with him. Make sure it's safe for both of them when he is finished and make sure he isn't the dare devil type.thats just me. I have three daughters .

I personally would not have given that much for it, because I know what it will take to fix it, and I wouldn't put that kind of time and money into a Gixxer--- not because it's not worth it, but because it's not worth it to me.

I sold my 2004 for $1900 and it was PRISTINE.
It took me a whole year to get that much for it.

So.... NO!

I think that if it were my daughter, I would be more relieved that he bought a non-working bike.

No I would never buy a wrecked bike. Hope he doesn't think he's putting your daughter on the back of that thing.

Thanks guys... Yeah, I know... I need to go over to his place and see the trashed GSXR-750, which is now in his dad's garage.

My daughter's boyfriend is a pretty good "grease monkey" and has rebuilt/reworked/repaired his Ford Mustang many many times. He's handy with tools, but, I don't know if he's ever worked on a bike before. He knows how to ride and has ridden dirt bikes as a kid from what I know.

He better not even THINK of putting my daughter on that trashed out bike, even if it is eventually fixed back up. You just never know with things like that. I mean, the frame itself could be bent and could throw the whole balance of the bike off.

If he knows whathe is doing, I say it's a good price for the motor alone. I have a friend who bought a totalled Gixxer and is using various pieces to make an Adventure tourer. Making his own frame and all. Should be a great bike when he is done.

Give him a chance to get it up and fixed before you make a judgement.
