I had no problems with the stock seat on my Spirit 1100. However, I got a good deal on a used Mustang seat, I like the way it looks better so I bought it and install it. For me it's a slightly more comfortable seat but the difference is not huge. I'm actually thinking about selling the Mustang seat and putting that money towards one with a built in back rest. Either that or getting a bag that doubles as a back rest (Kury Tombstone, Biker's Friend etc.). The only problem with the bag is I think I will have a difficult time getting on and off the bike with it mounted. The Mustang backrest folds down to make it easier to get on and off the bike.

Check ebay. There are a couple of companies that sell just the cover for the stock seat for the rider and passenger for about $50 or so. You can staple it like the factory or use small screws to put it back on. I did one with screws and it worked out good.

I got my replacement seat (07 sabre?) for my 93 shadow. Kept my eye on ebay and picked it up for $60 shipped off ebay. The seat is in 100% perfect condition and was less expensive than just replacing the torn seat cover that I had.
