This just makes sense. If a dealer is only going to "inspect" the tube, I would definitely take my business elsewhere. Every local shop I go to for tires has always replaced the tube. No questions asked and that's the way I'd want it.

10k seems about right. Keep them inflated to the proper pressure to prolong their life.

Default Tubes last

Tubes will last essentially forever.

I have dirt bikes with tubes that are 25 years old, these same bikes have gone through no less than 12 tires.

Now,

The big thing to consider is the cost of dismounting the tire, putting in a new tube, and then remounting the tire if by some odd circumstance your tube goes to ****. Also the guys at the shop want to sell tubes of course and they will often tell you that they might 'pinch' your tube in the mount/dismount process. That is true.

Basically, the odds are more than slim of a tube ever going bad. The stem is exposed to sunlight, after 20 years it might UV degrade.

On my dirtbikes I do it all myself. On the street bike the tires are bigger, the beads harder to break and I generally just take the wheel off and take it down to my local shop who has the machine needed for easy mounting. I have gone through several tires up to 50K miles. I am on the same damned tube.

It is the choice of the owner and tubes aren't a lot of money. I know. But they do amount to the cost of lunch, and so therefore I guess now and then I get a free lunch

Went out to the shed to check...

...so far, just over 35,000 on a Yokohama Avid Touring S on the rear of my VTX 1300C. Still can't see much wear (a lot more than my Dunlop had new, that's for sure) and she give off a rooster tail onto tailgaters you wouldn't believe.

I got 18,600 on my front Avon Venom.

Could get just over 16,000 on the old rear Dunlop.

10k out of a shinko is good. I got 16 out of my michellen commander front. it was cupped but still had 2-4k left on it. I too didn't like how it cornered.

Shinko rear got 5k. I'm at 11 ish on my avon rear.
