Yep. And they are surprisingly useful for getting an overall big picture understanding of the area you are in.

I didn't believe it either, since I have been using gps's for a long time. But my old school brother turned me on to them. Amazing things those maps. Glad someone thunk them up.

OK Thamks everyone for the ideas. We have decided on our destination.

Columbus, Ohio to Key West Florida. Going down through the east, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, then back up the west georgia, Tenn, Ky. and back into Ohio.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is on my list, the Dakota badlands are pretty cool, and Devil's Tower is quite a sight.
