Default Can't blame a cager this time

Sac Bee reported today an unusual two-bike motorcycle accident that killed both riders. Seems one of them "lost control" on a curvy portion of Hwy 49 and fell, causing the rider coming from the opposite direction to hit a guardrail trying to avoid the sliding bike. Both dead at the scene. Tragic AND weird.

This is why won't go to places like Deals Gap and the Dragon as rare as that kind of event is, the odds of a get off are increased in an environmental like that. If that crash took place on normally traveled non biker twistyfest road......that is strange and very bad luck.

Wait I am confused.

California is a helmet law state correct?

Helmets save lives correct?

It must be a fake story or a mistake , I cannot believe a single "protected" rider died, let alone two.

Surprisingly sleazy even for you, Dave, to use this tragedy in making your same tired views known....for the 3000th time.

Give it a rest.

Not funny CrazyDave. Not funny at all. These were fellow riders we are talking about.

Hey MikeB, having spent a LOT of time on those roads, I can understand the propensity for major screw-ups. I honestly believe that nobody loves the twisties any more than I do. I always TRY to ride all of them with a good piece of safety margin on whatever I am riding. I aint no canyon burner, but I am not exactly a turtle on the roads either. I would rather spend an entire day on back roads and go nowhere than set a destination on the super slab to get to a specific point. Have I been lucky over the years? I have to say yes to that. I have never had to try and avoid a bike sliding towards me in a corner, nor anywhere else. The victim in this is probably the poor guy that tried to do just that. My condolences to both the riders family and friends.
Be careful out there!

Who said I was trying to be funny.. it is a serious message..

DON'T DEPEND ON GEAR.. as to the accident itself, seems to me one biker died for the right of another to ride stupid..most likely because that idiot had great faith in his gear.. but then I don't know for sure. Could the other guy have avoided it? Again..don't know..think that is sleazy..oh well.

I wear ATGATT, but I don't Depend on my Gear to keep me safe. I depend on my skill's, and on my awareness. I wear gear because to me it is just good common sense. Some people are not experienced and/or like to take chances and risks. That's when these kind of accidents happen. It doesn't have a thing to do with gear or helmets.

There is a point at which no gear in the world will save you. But there is the chance that it will as well.

Ride safe.

Dave.

That was a stupid comment Dave.
Nobody claims that wearing a helmet will save your life 100%.
