My 06 stock seat was good for a short spell as well but after 70 miles or so I could feel it rolling my lower back. The problem is those seats have a roll so to speak as apposed to the 90 degree angles on the more comfy mustang seats. So I pealed the cover off and cut the foam to do a 90 at the back and got rid of the smooth roll, It worked almost like I had put a backrest on it. It was not easy pulling the stock staples and I pop riveted the vynel back on.

i recently got a mustang seat with backrest for my 06 aero, the cover on the stock seat was to tight and im not very heavy so i didnt actually get to sit on much of the padding, i could of just had the seat redone for much cheaper but i kinda had my heart set on the mustang after reading about them and i can tell you it makes a huge difference, the seat is thicker tho so you will sit a bit higher up
i was told it wouldnt be so great untill it was broke in(roughly 1000km) and sadly the weather here has been crap so i've only had 2 short rides with it but it really does feel great and the backrest is awesome |

You can find good used mustang seats, just have to be patient. I wasn't really looking after having put 54000 miles on the stock vlx seat, but just happened along upon a very barely used Mustang Wide Tour. $200.00 which included the shipping.
Last 2 thousand miles have been way better than the stock seat. Vote for Mustang here.

I'll have to give more feedback after a trip or two to work, but I just put on the Mustang Vintage w/backrest (folds forward for getting on and off) and as soon as my butt hit the seat it was worth $600. I took it down to the end of the road and back and it felt so good on my bad back and skinny butt I almost teared up. Me and Hank Hill seem to share that "diminished gluteal syndrome" thing. I got belly, but no butt (tricky keeping my duty belt up at work) so I'm a bit sensitive to what I'm sitting on.
The slight change in seating position seemed to make a difference in how my legs felt with the stock pegs. That will be something I'll be paying attention too on the ride to work and back today. If it relieves the aches and cramped feeling I may cancel the order for the control extensions that haven't shipped yet and just use the money for something else. Will just have to see how it goes. Initial reaction though from someone who loves his bike, but it just hurt to ride with the stock seat. Yea, this will work and be worth every penny. Especially since this is my daily ride. |

Dang my ass hurts. Rode 130 miles yesterday and my butt still aches. I'm gonna go ahead and spend the bucks. Three years on this stock seat and now it's beginning to become very uncomfortable. I'm thinking Mustang!

Well, after riding in and back, about 20 miles each way, I love the Mustang Vintage with back rest. Mustang to stock seat is like heaven to hell. I'll still go ahead with relocating the pegs and forward controls for total comfort, but with the Mustang seat the strain and stress was off the back and legs and my butt felt a lot better. You do sit a in inch or so taller in the saddle. Not sure if that is enough to put me too tall for the N/C Switchblade Shorty windshield or if it's just too short period. May have to try the Chopped or even the 2 UP. But, the seat is fantastic.

I am sure it is not just me being a cheap ole bastardo but $400+ to $600+ for a seat is just not very realistic IMO - i guess if I were in the seat mfg business i would think it was not enough........you'd think an upholstery shop could modify the exisitng seat maybe for less than 1/2 that - again not in that business but seems to me that almost everything for this bike is very expensive - the Suzuki stuff was not nearly as pricey. Maybe dealing with overseas suppilers has spoiled me when it comes to the economics of this - practical functionality (estheics not nearly as important) at a REASONABLE price is what I looking for.....guess i will be looking for a good while longer for that ultimate "deal" on CL or E........paying retail is not an option.

The second purchase I made (after the shield) after buying my bike was the Mustang seat. They know how to make them.
