As others have stated, I shift by "FEEL"...
When the gear I`m in stops delivering powerful acceleration, I shift to the next higher gear...
When I leave the house I`ll normally shift to 5th at 80MPH...
I live in the country ~ NOT in Town!!!

Its 1999 vt600c I would do it by sound but my exhaust is cut so I have about as 3 foot exhaust and for feel I have a Springer seat so I feel the road more than the bike lol

Oh, no doubt on the 6th, LOL!! I am forever pulling in the clutch feeling like there should be one more and since I don't count them, I am not even sure I am in 5th and just wanting another.
