Im thinking about creating my own seat. Im thinking something similar to a mustang daytripper. I was wondering if anyone here has made a seat from scratch. Seat pan up to upholstering. I want to do everything. I found a helpful video on youtube for creating the seat pan but after that I was hoping for some tips. What kind of foam to use, what glue, what type of leather? Any help and guidance would be great.

Here's the link to my thread where I talk about my experience, making seatpan starts on page 2. Wasn't too bad making it. The hardest part was attaching the cover. You can't use staples like you would with a plastic seatpan. So you have to use rivets. My fingers were killing me after doing it. I just went to a local place for foam. It was just "ok". Only comfortable for about a half hour. Great for around town, but for my trips to work, 1 hour each way, it wasn't enough. I ended up getting an airhawk cushion.

I just got marine grade vinyl from a Joanne fabrics store. I measured the seat pan front to back and side to side. My mistake was I didn't give enough extra to compensate for when there is foam. I'd give at least an extra 1-2 feet each direction.
