Default 1986 bobber

So I have started turning a 1986 Honda shadow vt500 into a bobber. I am trying to make a few decisions that will help me move forward. So I was wondering about what you all thought was the best way to modify the exhaust. What should I do for a seat and is there any way to move the breather box from under the seat?

The best part about Bobbing/chopping a bike are the endless possibilities.

Regarding the exhaust, are you planning on fabricating a whole new set of pipes, or doing the "hole saw mod", or slapping on some aftermarket pipes?

As for the seat, are you gonna hardtail the bike?

The air intake box can be removed, you'll have to switch to pod filters, re-jet accordingly, etc. etc.

I am going to keep it as a softail. I want to keep the two original pipes but add something kind of what you have. As for the seat I am cutting the original pan, I did that today, then I am going to upholster it myself. Is re-jetting easy?

Please post pics and do a write up, as I plan to bobber mine sometime, and keep it softail.

Here are a few pics. Day one I got it running, day two I started to take parts off, day three I fixed the ignition, day four(today) I started cutting the seat, it's rough cut now, I am going to finish it later. I leave for vacation on fri so there won't be much more done before then. When I get back I am going to reupholster the seat and then chop the tail and get the exhaust built.

So what about painting the motor? I found a high heat spray paint. I would like to paint it without removing the motor. Any suggestions?

That looks really cool. Nice color scheme. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Please post pics of the peanut tank mount! I'd love to do that to mine, but I know it's difficult because of our double spine frames.
