Default Well, the weekend started out good,,,

Bit of backtracking. Thursday, at work I had a bit of a mishap. a handtruck fell off my truck and caught me in the chest, high on the left. It hurt like hell Thursday but Friday seemed to be much better.

I had made plans quite a while ago to ride to a friends 50th birthday party with my wife. She was really looking forward to it and since it didn't hurt on Friday, I figured it wouldn't be a problem, and it wasn't. It was a four hour ride on Saturday in beautiful but just slightly chilly weather. We got to the cottage and started enjoying the party with lots of good friends. Around 11 pm I started feeling a bit of pain in my chest. by 12 pm I was almost completely immobilized. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't get into any position that didn't hurt. My buddy found me a nice handful of painkillers and I tried to sleep. didn't work very well but I did get a few hours. This morning, when I got up, it hurt worse than ever. We were fours hours away from home with me totally out of it. Luckily we have a bunch of good friends. One stepped up right away and offered to ride my bike home and another couple offered to drive us home. My birthday buddy also offered to let me leave the bike at the cottage until him and I could come back up and get it. I ended up letting the one friend drive it home and coming home with the other couple. The bike was dropped off a couple of hours ago.

It sure feels good to have some good friends. It sure sucks to break ribs again (possibly) especially 3 times in the last 6 years.

That sucks about your ribs, hopefully you will be able to make yourself comfortable enough to function. You've hurt them before so you know how to take care of them. Great that you have good friends that you can trust with your bike. GL

A few years ago on a weekend riding trip in the fall I was going through a section with some wet slick rocks under the leaved and when my back tire hit one, it kicked out hard and I landed on a huge rock that got me between the front and back of my chest/back protector First thing I did was pick up the bike so it didn't flood out on it's side, THEN I just had to sit down, AND of course one of my buddies right in front of me decided to stop and make sure the rest of the guys coming through knew it was slick in that section and of course HAD to take a pic of me sitting wondering how many ribs I broke, Turned out I got lucky and only bruised two of them. Still hurt for a month and a half and had trouble sleeping because every time I rolled over on my left side it woke me up out of a dead sleep. The rock I'm leaning on is the one I landed on.... OUCH I really do hate those guys that want to make the memories of the crashes LOL.

That sucks. Especially this time of year when the riding season begins to wind down. Get well soon.

Well,, saw the Doc today and he confirmed a cracked rib. Two weeks on light duty at work and no riding at all for who knows how long. Crap.
