Default Bike in the shop...

Ok, it's killing me. My new (to me) bike is in the shop for a safety inspection, state inspection, rear blinker repair and oil change - I'm new to bikes, so I wanted it looked over by a pro the first time - and it's killing me! I want to be out riding! I put about 100 miles on it the first few days I had it, then brought it in.

How do you all deal with times when you can't ride?

Mine went in the shop July 10th, came home August 18th, stayed one night, and went back in the shop due to the handlebars still being crooked. I know the pain

Wolf, that sounds awful! Mine has been in for a week, and I was on vacation with my family, so it was fine. Now I'm back and itching to ride!

I don't know why a bike would be in the shop a week for "safety inspection, state inspection, rear blinker repair and oil change". Sounds to me like it's the type of work that you could wait for.....

It's taking them a week for simple repairs. I think it's time for a new shop or you need to do your own repairs and service.

Seems the problem is the fact that shops are busy during the riding season. I bet that bike sat there waiting it's turn. Very much like trying to bring your boat in for service in the middle of the season. The best time to bring it in is the middle of the winter when demand is lower. I know not everyone has the skills to service their own bike, so I will save the DIY rant.

Eh, I wasn't clear. I dropped the bike off before I left for vacation. He told me he wouldn't have a chance until mid-week. Called him Friday to check in and everything is done, he's just waiting on the blinker to come in.

But yes, I want to start working on the bike to learn basic things like this. Where I'm new to bikes, I wanted it checked by a pro to make sure there wasn't a major problem or safety concern.
