PA Dave you are in Lancaster? You should bundle up (it's going to be cold as he!! on Saturday morning) and come join us at the Bensalem Police Ride for Heros on Saturday. I have friends who have been doing this ride for years (I did it for the first time last year). It's a lot of fun and the food alone is worth the trip!

Thanks Mike. I considered it briefly, but as I've only been back in the saddle for two weeks after a 27 year break, I'm just not ready to do a group ride just yet. I think I'd be a menace to others if I made a wrong move. Next year, though, if I'm free, I'll be there.

I think the same advice is written in most "smart phone" manuals as well.

Items can be replace, lives cannot. I'm glad to hear your OK and the driver didn't break your leg.
About 2 weeks into having my permit, I was on a 2 lane canyon road close to my house. I was at a place where cars can pass slower vehicles and this car pulled out about 100 yards in front of me. He was heading straight for me and all the cars started honking at this guys. I honked, flashed my lights and gently moved my bike between the car coming at me and the dirt shoulder. After about 10 seconds of passing him, my adrenaline was pumping so fast I had to get off the bike. I didn't want that guys craziness to mess up my concentration anymore. Lived to ride another day. Thank God everytime I get off the bike. |
