Default 8 Left!

Well if I was a cat I guess I would have 8 lives left....I was on my way hooks crime the church I work at, stopped and waiting to make a left hand turn. Blinker was on and brake light was on and flashing intermittently with the modulator I installed a few weeks ago. Suddenly I heard a light screech of brakes and within a half a second a car took my left saddle bag off and I felt his front fender slide across my leg on his way by. He almost hit the car I was waiting on...head on, but swung into the ditch on the left side of the road to go around her. After that he swung back onto the road and took off quick as he could go. Wish I could have a few words with that guy. The one thing I wish I had done better was checking my mirrors. I should have seen him coming. Not sure it would have helped, but I know enough to know situational awareness is critical.

Wow, We have to pray for all. Even the ones we don't pray for. I'm glad you're ok.

Wow glad you got through it. Could have been much worse. No telling what you would have done if you had seen him coming. Could have turned in the wrong direction and been a lot worse off. Can’t believe people don’t stop ,man up, and own their screw up.

That's my worst riding nightmare being rear ended at a stoplight. Sorry man. Glad you are ok.

Glad you're ok and understand situational awareness. Too bad you couldn't catch up with the guy. Did you notify the police? Hit and run is such chicken$hit.

Must be one of those days. I almost got ran into head on at a 4-way stop. Dipsy-doodle in a BMW waiting until I started my left hand turn before blasting off from the other side.

Maybe if you dive a BMW traffic laws don't apply to you. Or if you are late to work.

Man, that could have been much worse, glad you are okay. I'd be scraping out the 'wears after that. After I got rear-ended in my truck a few years ago at a red light, I've been painfully aware of whats in the mirrors, even in the cage, and I know that it saved my Blazer on at at least one occasion since then. And like 1rusty1 said, even if you take evasive action, there's still the chance they'll go the same way. It's one of my big fears.

You know when I bought my 5-series BMW earlier in the year I was shocked to read in the owners manual that traffic laws no longer apply.

Haha...funny stuff! Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I am surprised that I wasn't scared at all....even after it was over I figured I'd be calling the wife to pick me up, but no.....pissed was all I felt. Think I will file a police report today....just in case I run across that car again. It is a small town.
