Largest Honda Dealer in the US Under Investigation | USRiderNews

Southern Honda Powersports, the largest Honda dealer with locations in Tennessee and Florida is under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville and the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office for allegedly selling unsafe motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes, according to a report out today in USA Today.

The report says a consultant and former employee, along with 9 other employees all say the dealership sold bikes that were under recall, (without fixing them first) and employees did not have the training to assemble the ATV’s and motorcycles the dealer sold to the public.

The reports says that there are potentially 25,000 vehicles that are in customers possessions that are potentially unsafe.

The owner, Tim Kelly, says there “is no substance” to the’ allegations, and says alleged assembly problems are “utter balderdash.”

I wouldn't rush to judgement on this. A few disgruntled employees can paint a pretty ugly picture. This could range from sadly true to completely vindictive lies.

These guys sell volume at low prices....OTD to customers across many state lines and on Ebay...Not surprised some friend of a friend in a high place is going after them likely for no good reason. Where are the rash of "unsafe" bike wrecks purchased from those dealerships?

That was my first thought. MY dealer gets complaints probably at the same ratio to sales. People who save thousands are not likely to complain about it. dealers are routinely bashed. Its the nature of the game.

Yup. A percentage of people would complain if you handed them a thousand dollars just because it was all in fives instead of hundreds.

You just need to weigh the facts and decide for yourself, and we don't have the facts.
