That likes to chase me through my subdivision from my house all the way to the exit of my neighborhood. It is a rather large dog, boxer I think. It gets pretty close to me( within kicking distance) and cuts in front of me. I am not on real good terms with this neighbor( my kids hate their kids). I speed up to try to get away from said dog , but that thing is fast and I end up doing like 50 through my small and quiet subdivision. I thought about going over there and talking to them, but knowing how irrational they can be one of us might end up taking a ride in a black and white car. My question is, if said stupid dog causes me to lay my bike down, will the irrational dog owner be responsible for damages??

You have leash laws where you live? Report him. Bad situation for the dog, and things aren't gonna get any better with your neighbor.

I would think so. Guess it would depend on the city ordinances, but I've always believed that it's the responsibility of the pet owner to control his animal.
I don't know if I would be so nice. If the dog chasing you is putting you in jeopardy, I'd have a conversation with the police. Let them go over to the owners house and let him know what his liability is.

Two, hit the dog. If you drop the bike without hitting the dog, it's like the dog was never there. The end result is you get penalized for not being in sufficient control of your bike. If you're going to wreck, make sure you hit the dog. Additionally, if you want to talk to your neighbor about it, take the approach of being concerned for the dog. Tell the neighbor how the dog behaves around moving vehicle and that you are concerned for the dog's safety. (Don't make that sound like a threat.) If the dog gets hurt by you or another vehicle, you'll at least feel better that you tried.

GOOD answers in this post [edit: except for the truck comment, LOL! ^^^ ]! Yes, be responsible and show concern for the animal over you (in front of the owner). But if they are not approachable, call animal control or the police. Ask them if there IS a leash law. Take it from there. During that interim, is there a way for you walk the bike passed the house without running it? Maybe it's just the noise combined with motion that sets the dog off?
In any event, YOUR safety is #1!

I'm not scared of much, but this dog kind of worries me. I used to jog through my subdivision but he is now starting to chase me while nipping at my hands. I now drive to a safer place to jog. I don't want to be pushing my bike when I pass him. You can sort of see my frustration/concerns and my dislike of the dog, hence the truck comment, which I really was just joking by the way. I would really hate to dent or scratch my truck! Lol.
