Many here have added systems that bolt onto the bike. Me, I ended up getting a touring bike that had a factory system. It's dated, but it works.

I had the Harley Boom audio system installed when I bought my bike...(see link below) I put my Ipod in a magnetic tank bag and plug it in. Sounds good even at 80mph on the highway

I wear ear buds connected to a Galaxy Note. If I need GPS the directions interrupt the media or of on a call the instructions are in the BG.
I don't ride without them in and take one out at lights and stops to hear any possible skidding behind me....(as if I would really be able to make a move in that case, LOL). I don't ride in a heavy traffic area so I can see emergency vehicles before I would hear them in any direction. I don't care for on bike systems. They sound tinny to me and are expensive as well when compared to a good set of isolated ear buds. I like to listen without wind noise. Nothing sounds as good and is as portable as a good all in one portable device I can take with me off the bike, along with a set of decent ear buds with a mike attachment to take calls. I use the Klipsch S4A on the bike and Westone 3's for music only.

Agreed! As the saying goes, if it's too loud, you're too old!
Now back to your regular discussion.

For the first 2 months i was using my ipod with earbuds, after awhile got tired of it since I like to blast my music. I picked up a shark 250 watt system for my 2000 Honda shadow ACE 750. It works great! Picked it up for $100 bucks, it comes with a wired remote, 2 water proof speakers, and a AM/FM amp Radio. The radio reception is pretty crappy at times, but since the amp has a aux connector you should be fine. Wiring went down the tree/fork, under the gas tank, under the seat and into my saddle bag... Be careful which system you get because mine came with brackets that did not clear the break fluid indicator on the handle bar, since the mounts are connected to your mirror. I had to contact customer service and pay for another set of brackets/mounts. I used zipp ties to run the wire back to my bags. I can hear pretty darn clearly up to 80 mph on the freeway.
