I'm a new rider. I got my first bike in July. Yes, I wear my helmet. Yes, I wave to other riders. However, the safe operation of my ride takes priority over everything. In other words, I agree with everything that's been posted on this thread so far. Oh yeah. I adjust my face shield to control how much cold air I get in my face. Lol

I wave at everyone even if on a moped. If it's a pretty woman I wave with both hands!

I wave at everybody, doesn't matter what they are riding, if its on 2 or 3 wheels there out their dodging the cages like the rest of us, It can get quite tiring riding to and from large events riding one armed the whole way lol!!

I would think in that case, you wouldn't need either hand to wave?

I've started waving when I started riding on the street almost 40 years ago when I was 16. I was one of the very lucky as my parents wanted me to get a bike instead of a carm didn't get the first car until I was 21. I wave when it is safe, not in a hard turn or busy traffic and sometimes you just don't see the other rider until it's too late. I also drive a Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler owners wave too. But not everyone waves, it's not going to stop me from waving. Riding is one of my favorite things to do and I'm not going to let someone that doesn't wave back spoil my good time if they don't want to wave back.

I wave, most around here do. It is the standard open hand out slightly raised arm, more of an acknowledgement than a wave, and if not returned is usually turned up into a one finger wave

I usually get more waves when on the GW than when on the Shadow. Go figure.

Default Rider Salute

To me the wave is more of a salute, more like a show of respect than a greeting. I nod, wave and salute the pavement when ever safe to any and all riders.
I've been absent as of late,
wish all safe and merry holidays.

Ride On

This is an age old question that will come up month after month, When you pass people on the street do you greet them, I do, If you are a social person wave but don't expect everyone to wave back..
