At Laconia New Hampshire , three or 4 years ago, a guy had a bike he made from junk yard pieces .
It was an older HD frame, with a 300 HP Porsche Turbo engine and transmission . Mated to a reengineered BMW final drive. The engine and transmission served as the swing ARM. That guy ride the thing up from North Carolina, if memory serves. It looked good. I would rather have something like that. I know I have a photo of it somewhere on this damed machine. But do you think I can find it ? .....

They are not practical but they are fun to look at.
There was an episode of American Chopper where they had a build-off between Sr., Jr., and Jesse James. Senior’s bike was some weird three-wheeled contraption that no one could ride. Junior’s bike "looked" like a pretty normal chopper but had the exhaust coming up through what should have been the gas tank. There was a small hidden gas tank that gave the bike a range of about 10 miles. So while it "looked" like it could be ridden, in fact, it could not. Jesse’s bike was an old-school chopper that I would love to ride. Junior won the build-off with a bike that was no more practical than the bikes shown here.

I saw that show also it was ridiculous. I agree Jr bike was highly impractical, and Jesse James bike was awesome. A bike might be pretty to look at but if its not truly able to be ridden it might as well be lawn art.

Wow, serious custom design and fabrication there! I have nothing but respect for everything there ... very inspirational. They are not designed for everyday use, touring, hauling, etc. Therefore, I say let the fun begin! Thanks for sharing Dave!
