It also looks like the tabs that you the rubber holder for your starter solenoid slide on to to hold it in place are broken but I wouldn't worry about that. It'll be loose, but it ain't going anywhere and when you get the battery cover, just secure it to it with some zip ties if it's still in the way. You won't believe how much having that cover in place cleans things up. everything will fall in to place and be so much easier on the eye and will def be secure.

you got lucky finding it lol. be careful about letting that fuse block hang down. it is long enough to get brushed against those hot exhaust pipes. Until I got my parts ordered, I wedged the fuse block between the battery and the housing so it wouldn't slip out. Or you could zip tie it out of the way for now. Just don't want any of those electrical goodies to get cut or fried until you get the parts to fix it right.

Yeah a small spot was melted on mine as well, but it was just the rubber cover. they also tried to rig my side cover with a piece of wire to stay on and the cover slid down on the exhaust. melted a pretty nasty spot on the bottom section of the cover the shape of the pipe. I had to used some fiberall, which is a brand of fiberglass filler that's pretty great stuff to repair the scorched spot. I use it in the shop on truck hoods. Repainted and now it's good as new.

If you have the cover you can drill a couple of small holes and zip tie it on. You can get colored zip ties to try to match the color of the bike. You really don't notice it unless you're looking for it. I had to do mine that way until I ordered my chrome ones. There's a place in California that sells them made from real metal instead of chrome covered plastic.
