Thanks for all the input! Lot's of options and good looking combinations. I like the Saddleman bags for their simplicity and the price tag doesn't hurt either even if I opt for the edge rails.
A set of hard bags that curve with the contour of the rear fender would look good too. I guess before I decide I need to get rid of the lunch box and decided what I want to do with the turn signals.

I started with a set of cheap leather throwovers, and later upgraded to the Tsykayu Strong bags. Honestly, after seeing the difference, I would not roll without lockable hardbags, for the following reasons: 1) I can fit a ton of groceries in the bags. 2) I can fit my half-helmet and gloves in one bag with room to spare, and my jacket in the other. 3) They lock! 4) Weatherproof! 5) Painted to match the bike and they look stock. There are a few options for relocating the turn signals. Some put them on the bags. I like the idea, but I would have to wire a quick-disconnect for bag removal. Others put them on the license plate bracket, but that was not an option for me as I replaced the stock bracket with a lay-flat plate holder. I originally was going to run with a Clear Alternatives integrated tail/turn signal light, but the angle that the light board sits at in the housing causes the lights to wash out in daylight, so I ended up adding Hyperlites in the stock signal location. I am not 100% happy with how they look, but they get the job done and are bright as hell! Once I get back from Ft. Rucker, I am going to look into some different mounting options and see if I can make it look a little better. |

My bike came with the Leatherlykes (see sig pic)
I love having lockable bags, and they look great, but the tops were faded and had drip spots on them. I almost went out and bought "back to black" or some such product but I thought hey if they really are leather or like it ....hmm... good old kiwi black shoe polish!! It worked great, they look brand new. Used my shoe polish applicator brush, then brushed them off just like my boots. Now and then a quick buff with a rag restores them to like new. Also, was scared to tackle my WWW's after reading threads here but finally bit the bullet and tried the only thing I already had - SOS pads...Simple !!! cleaned them up great with very little effort. {see before & after difference between front & back wheels}
