but the tops were faded and had drip spots on them.

I almost went out and bought "back to black" or
some such product but I thought hey if they really are leather
or like it ....hmm...
good old kiwi black shoe polish!! It worked great, they look
brand new. Used my shoe polish applicator brush, then brushed
them off just like my boots. Now and then a quick buff with
a rag restores them to like new.
I've always used the Mothers "Black to Black" product on my LeatherLykes, and then hit them with
Lemon Pledge in between the Mothers applications. I'll have to try the Shoe Polish.......

I just never thought of using shoe polish; sounds like a winner!

Here is my saddle bags. I only use them when I'm on a trip.

I have a whole album, but here they are:

here's the album: https://plus.google.com/photos/11165...20132237708145

the brackets have changed considerably and i recently added those stickers. i also lined the insides with that spray-on rubber.

i like them because they add brake lights to the back so i'm more visible to others when stopping.

Though's are some crazy support brackets. I think you can buy black square caps to cover the open end at the top of the square tubes. Might finish it off better. Have you changed the brackets since these pics?

the brackets are a thicker aluminum tubing. i've searched for the black end caps, but have not found any.

i have silver caps for the outsides where the bolts attach to the frame by the frame rail.

it was an awesome DIY project. and they worked long enough to get me through the summer season.
