Default How Cold Survey

How cold does it have to get for you to surrender to winter? I'm still riding at 31 degrees this year. In the past 40 was my limit. I guess I'm more stubborn this year. Need different boots though. The wind goes right the laces.

If the roads are OK, I'll ride in the mid 20's . I got a heated vest for my birthday, and that helps alot.

I am currently riding still in Northeastern Alabama in the low 30's and upper 20's with wind chill (that doesn't factor in the added wind chill from the bike ride.) As long as I can ride safely on in to the winter months, she ain't gettin parked. It's cold, yeah, but my bike is my daily commuter. When the ice hits though, I won't have a choice. Got three kids 4 and under that need me in one piece.

Is it snowing? Will it snow before I drive home? If I can answer no to both I gear up and hop on. Cold isn't an issue but traction is.

I like at least 50s for a long ride. I'll go colder for a short ride. Maybe someday ill have better gear for colder riding.

Same here brother. When we get ice that's when the car comes out. Three kids too 6 and under so it gets parked in that other than that ride on!

Work commute = 40 and up.
Long pleasure ride = 50 and up.

It might change when I add a screen to the bike. When I was in my 20's, I rode year round...it wasn't a question ride or not, but rather what to wear.

I've been known to go wade fishing in the river in 26 degrees, so I'm not a complete wuss.
